Before you start your volunteer application (volunteer applicants must be 18 or older), please read and check the box next to each statement to signify you have read, understood, and agree to the following volunteer commitments:
I am required to have a personal computer and a broadband internet connection during the IMAlive training, certification and online support shifts.
The online H.E.A.R.T. training course costs $250, which can be paid in one payment or raised with the help of online supporters, friends and family. Once I start the online training, the course fee is non-refundable.
Upon completion of the online H.E.A.R.T. course, I will be asked to take additional steps online (a Skype interview, online background check, 20 hours of one-on-one practice chats with experienced IMALIVE Supervisors, online Competency Certification exam). I will need to cover the cost of the background check ($20 for US citizens, $42 for Canadian citizens, other countries - ask for a quote).
To become an IMALIVE chatline and/or hotline volunteer, I need to possess excellent command of the spoken and/or written English language, as well as have no mental impairment or medical disability of which I am aware that would affect my ability to serve objectively and efficiently as a Crisis Responder.
For the duration of my involvement with IMAlive, I may be asked by an IMAlive staff member to withdraw or resign at any time.
